Who We Are

Leggera Technologies is a Tier 1&2 supplier to the automobile industry utilizing thixomolding technology to produce stronger, lighter weight magnesium parts for vehicles.

We have never “sold” anything to anyone. Each program that we have won began with a request for help to solve a particular problem. We are problem solvers and provide solutions that work. We thrive on difficult challenges.

Leggera Technologies currently produces parts for the Jeep Wrangler, Ford Bronco, Chrysler Pacifica and Rivian Amazon EDV, among others. All products were designed to reduce weight without sacrificing strength or quality. Thixomolded magnesium met the challenge.

All work is done in house…from design, to molding, to machining, to powder coating to assembly and shipping. Leggera can do it all.

Our Story

Leggera means “Lightweight” in Italian. Leggera Technologies, LLC was founded in 2014 by Nathan Sanko and Tom Darnell to focus on light products. The company started in a garage in Kansas, with thixomolded magnesium as its foundational technology.

A company born out of a challenge to make a large, molded part out of magnesium. At the request of the FCA advanced development team, they designed and built the first “large scale” thixomolded component, the Jeep Wrangler swing gate – something that was previously believed to be impossible.

This successfully produced application grew into a full scale production company and supplier operating from two locations in Michigan. They now offer comprehensive in-house production capabilities, including part design & engineering, thixomolding, machining, powder coating, assembly and shipping.
